Fremantle HQ had a special visit today- one the club wouldn’t mind hosting at seasons end.

As part of its voyage to communities around the country, the 2013 AFL Premiership Cup stopped by the club on Wednesday.

There, it crossed paths with a man who hopes to hold it aloft at the MCG on the last Saturday in September, Matthew Pavlich.

‘Pav’ was happy to stand beside the Cup, but he wasn’t willing to touch it, not until Freo had earned the right.

“We are getting closer to the finals series but there’s a huge amount of work to do yet,” he said.

“We’ve got a game on Saturday afternoon first and then the real stuff starts.

“You don’t really afford yourself too many opportunities to think that far ahead, because it’s negligent on behalf of an athlete, but when you get this close you can afford a very brief moment.

“We’ve got a job to do this weekend and the next after that.”

Before it made its way to Fremantle, the Virgin Australia Premiership Cup Tour first stopped in Adelaide.

From Fremantle it will travel to Sydney and finally Melbourne during round 23 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

CBC Fremantle Secondary School students also had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the prestigious trophy this morning.

Virgin Australia included the school visit in celebration of Australia’s game and the excitement of the upcoming AFL Final Series.
