The Fremantle Dockers Ball was held on Saturday evening in the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth.  Players, coaches, club stakeholders and their guests came together to enjoy the black tie, glamour event.

Hosted by channel 7’s Edwina Bartholomew, the evening kicked off with a show stopping performance by ARIA Award winner Kate Ceberano.

Guests also had the opportunity to secure a variety of once in a lifetime experiences in a live auction, with proceeds going to the Fremantle Dockers Foundation.

Items included a 2016 AFL Brownlow package, a 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final package for two and recognition rights to player lockers located at our new facility at Cockburn Central West.

The foundation was established in June 2015 to support the club’s important on and off field work. It aims to engage and support the community through strong alliances with key charity partners and a focus on the club’s corporate social responsibility.

In his address to guests, president Steve Harris took the time to reflect on the season to date.

“I like many of you, have become accustomed to winning,” Harris said.

“We are a proud football club with strong fundamentals both on and off the field and we look at season 2016 as one where we have used adversity to bring opportunity.

“The adversity is clearly the injuries to players such as Nat Fyfe, Aaron Sandilands, Michael Johnson and Harley Bennell to name a few.

“But through that adversity the opportunity has now been given to our younger players in Lachie Weller, Connor Blakely, Ed Langdon, Darcy Tucker, Brady Grey, Ethan Hughes and Sam Collins.

“I think you would all agree that they have made the most of their responsibilities and this stands us in good stead for the seasons to come.

“Our members and supporters can also look forward to our coaching team continuing to develop those players and our game style for the future.

“Off the field we still have much to be proud of with over 50,000 passionate members and a sponsor base that is the envy of the competition.

“Our elite training and administration facility at Cockburn Central West is due for completion in early 2017. This facility would not have been possible without the support of the City of Cockburn and Curtin University.

“In addition to this support, these two organisations have partnered with us to successfully bid for the only WA team in the newly created AFL national women’s league.

“Through the Fremantle Dockers Foundation, our new facilities at Cockburn Central West will secure the future of our club and allow us to continue to support our Friends of the Foundation charity partners, including Starlight Children’s Foundation, Redkite, Manna, Ronald McDonald House and Starkick All Abilities Football Team.”
