Michael Johnson is recovering well from a concussive incident during Saturday’s NAB Challenge win against Geelong.

The Freo defender was injured in the fourth quarter after a tackle from Geeloong's Nakia Cockatoo. He left the ground and did not take any further part in the game.

Sports science manager, Jason Weber said he is confident Johnson will be ready to go for round one.

“He pulled up with a headache but he’s progressed really well this morning,” Weber said on Tuesday.

“He’s gone through his initial tests well and he will be monitored through the week.”

Anthony Morabito is tracking well in his comeback from a hamstring injury.

“Anthony is doing exceptionally well, he has pushed out some personal bests in the gym and we look forward to him progressing really strongly over the next fortnight,” Weber said.

Harley Benell had his first hitout for Freo on Saturday after a long pre-season campaign, while David Mundy and Zac Clarke returned to the action.

“They have all recovered really well,” Weber said.

“Mundy had a full game and pulled up with no problems.

“Harley had some limited game time, he got out to 70 minutes and he pulled up really well and trained strongly this morning.

“After a summer of knee incidents Zac Clarke pulled up very well and we look forward to him playing without any further issues.”
