Defenders Alex Pearce and Lee Spurr are expected to be available for selection this week after recovering from minor injuries in a boost to Fremantle’s defensive stocks.

Pearce has missed two weeks with back bruising but Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber said he trained well on Tuesday and will be available for match committee.

Training Report: Pearce on track

Weber said Spurr, who sat out last week’s loss to Richmond, would be ready to train with the main group on Thursday.

The pair will be crucial in coming weeks after Michael Johnson was ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury suffered during his milestone 200th game.

Who will replace Johnno?

“It’s a significant injury to his hamstring,” Weber said.

“We’ll work on getting his strength back up and get him back on field as soon as we can.”

Zac Dawson is expected to return to training in coming weeks after having surgery on his broken thumb last week.
