Nat Fyfe declared that Fremantle’s current list is one of the most talented groups he’s played with while speaking at the Club’s season launch at Crown on Thursday.

The 32-year-old midfielder has played alongside some of the Club’s greats across his 15 seasons in the AFL, including Hayden Ballantyne, Aaron Sandilands and Michael Johnson, who presented the players with their jumpers on stage at the event, but believed the current group are more talented than the one that reached a grand final back in 2013.

Fyfe was quick to mention that talent only gets you so far but it was the group’s hunger for success as a collective that resonated with him the most.

“We’ve drafted well, we’ve got good character and calibre, and these guys are dog-hungry,”

“Comparisons are really difficult, and we’ve had some great groups of players… JL said early in the pre-season this is a more talented group than we had when we played in preliminary finals and the grand final, and I’ve reflected on that and think it's accurate.

“We know that talent alone doesn’t get you where you want to go… What this group has is a real hunger.”

Since 2022, Fyfe has only played 16 games due to ongoing injury battles, but as the 2024 season approaches, the 218-game player is confident in his body as he works towards a return to the midfield.

“I’m feeling like I’ve got more continuity in my body the last couple of months compared to the last few years,” Fyfe said.

“The last couple of years have allowed me the opportunity to learn a few different tricks to add to my game.

“We’ve got enormous depth in our midfield which you can see up here, so at times everyone is going to need to step slightly outside their role and hopefully use that as an opportunity to add strings to their bow.

“In the midfield, we all feel like we want to be that guy, but for each of us to understand to get where we want to go, we’re going to have to all work together (to play multiple roles).

Fyfe has been one of the standout performers during the Club’s pre-season, displaying his aerial and contested abilities when matching up alongside the young midfield core.
