Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir has praised a ‘mature’ Fremantle performance in the Club’s 54-point win over Richmond at the MCG.

Despite Fremantle only kicking their first major after 10 minutes of play, the travelling side stacked on 15 goals to score over 100 points for the second time this season.

Speaking post-match, Longmuir said the evolution of key forward Josh Treacy was pleasing to see.

“He’s been a presence for us all year,” Longmuir said.

“He’s doing a great job ahead of the ball, competing and at least getting it to ground or us.”

Treacy kicked a career-high four goals, including three in the final quarter to help extend the margin out to a 54-points.

It is now the second time this season the key forward has kicked three goals in a single quarter, previously kicking three in the second quarter against Port Adelaide in round 5.

“He went on a bit of a run there and kicked three in a row which is good to see him get some reward for effort,” Longmuir said.

“He’s growing before our eyes and doing a super job.”

Treacy is currently ranked as elite for goal accuracy, as well as above average for marks, goals and tackles by champion data.

Longmuir also gave high praise to the team after the win, which puts the Club's win-loss record at 5-3 and has Fremantle sitting sixth on the ladder.

“I thought we were really professional with the way we went about it today,” Longmuir said.

“I feel like this year we’ve become a much more consistent team.

“Probably one game you can say we let ourselves down but outside of that we’ve been really consistent with our performance, with our method and a lot of the lessons we learnt last year when we didn’t quite get it right.”

The Club will return home tonight as they prepare for a quick five-day break before facing the top of the table Swans at Optus Stadium in the annual Purple Hands Foundation match on Friday night.
