Fremantle has delisted forward Josh Mellington after the club’s 31 October list lodgement.

Mellington, who was recruited from the Murray Bushrangers in the 2010 NAB AFL National Draft, played six matches in three seasons at Freo.

He made an impact at the start of the 2012 season, kicking four goals from his first three games, but a hamstring injury cut his AFL season short and he has been unable to force his way back into the team.

The 20-year-old has the opportunity to go into the November’s NAB AFL National Draft and be recruited by another club, however, he could potentially be re-drafted by Fremantle.

Fremantle has already delisted Jesse Crichton, Peter Faulks, Alex Forster, Alex Howson and Haiden Schloithe, while Jayden Pitt has retired and Viv Michie was traded to Melbourne.

The club had added midfielder Colin Sylvia from Melbourne via free agency, and traded for key forward Scott Gumbleton from Essendon.

Young forward Matt Taberner was elevated from the rookie list onto the club’s senior list for the 2014 season.
