Fremantle defender Lee Spurr has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 26-year-old, who was contracted through to the end of season 2014, has agreed to terms that will see him commit to the club through to end of the 2015 season.

Spurr emerged as a quality small defender in 2013. He played on many of the competition’s best small forwards and was rarely beaten.

Tough and uncompromising, he saved arguably the best performance of his career for Fremantle’s stirring Qualifying Final win against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

Spurr had 29 disposals, 10 marks and a goal in the victory.

Born in Queensland, he was drafted to Freo in the 2011 Rookie Draft after winning two premierships with Central District in the SANFL.
