Fremantle has agreed to terms for contract extensions for Nick Suban and Jonathon Griffin.

Suban has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will see the 23-year-old commit to the club until the end of 2017.

Suban has played 84 games for Fremantle since being recruited from North Ballarat in 2008.

The midfielder had an impressive year in 2013, playing 22 out of a possible 25 games.

“It was probably the most consistent year that I’ve had,” Suban said.

“I thought it just boiled down to having a full pre-season. I’m really looking forward to working hard and trying to get back into the team again with another solid pre-season.”
Suban said he was excited to stay at the club.

“It’s a great feeling, everyone’s excited to be around here and it’s a great place with a great culture, a winning culture.”

General manager of player management Brad Lloyd said it has been good to see Suban’s continued development since being drafted to the club.

“Nick’s played some quality football for the team and we are looking forward to seeing his football progress over the coming seasons,” he said.

Griffin has committed to the club until the end of season 2015 with a one-year contract extension.

The 27-year-old played 13 games for Fremantle in 2012, and was in career best form at the beginning of season 2013.

He had not missed a game until he endured a season ending knee injury in round seven against Collingwood at Patersons Stadium.

Lloyd said the club was looking forward to seeing Griffin return to the good form he was displaying before his injury.

“Jon was playing good football up until his injury, it has been good to see his rehab progressing well. We are looking forward to seeing Jon in action in 2014,” Lloyd said.

Griffin said he was thankful to the club for giving him the opportunity to play an extra year.

“It was a dream come true to be able to play for Fremantle,” Griffin said.

“Rehab is going really well and I am ticking all the boxes to make sure my body is 100 per cent.

“I’m pushing for round one, I have all the support of the physios and strength and conditioning coaches.

“I just can’t wait to get out there and play for Freo again.”
