Lance Franklin is free to play in Saturday's match against Fremantle at the SCG after the AFL Match Review Panel (MRP) deemed he had no charge to answer to.

'Buddy' had his name put in the umpire's book for a fourth quarter alleged striking incident involving his Kangaroo opponent Scott Thompson, who held him goaless in wet conditions.

The MRP stated: Thompson is running out of the goal square when Franklin makes high contact. After viewing all the available footage, speaking with the umpire who laid the report and receiving a medical report from the North Melbourne Football Club, it was the view of the panel that Franklin’s act was not a striking action and the force used by Franklin was below that required to constitute a reportable offence.
