Fremantle has been bolstered by the inclusion of Chris Mayne and Nat Fyfe for Saturday’s clash with Sydney at the SCG.

Mayne was put through a stern fitness test at training on Thursday morning and has been named after recovering from an ankle injury.

Fyfe was an automatic inclusion after serving his two-game suspension for a bump on Gold Coast’s Michael Rischitelli in round 3.

Young forward Hayden Crozier and Josh Simpson were the players to make way for the star duo.

Crozier has been named as an emergency along with the club’s first pick from last year’s draft, Michael Apeness and Tommy Sheridan.

Fremantle general manager of football operations Chris Bond said Mayne was fit and would be a key addition to Freo’s forward line.

“He’s 100 per cent,” he said.

“He’s missed a week but he’s proven over a fair period of time now that he’s important to us, the way he goes about it, with his quality and finishing and the pressure he puts on as well.

“We’re all looking forward to having him back in the team.”

Bond said Fyfe was an important inclusion given the Swans’ big-bodied midfield.

“He’s missed two week’s through suspension (but) he’s trained really hard and been able to get his body right,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to him being in the mix.”

Watch out for… round 5

The club’s football manager said Crozier and Simpson were unlucky to miss selection.

“At the end of the day, both of them performed quite well when they came on (last week), but we’ve got two senior players coming back in, they’re both aware of that,” Bond said.

The Swans have started the season with a 1-3 record, prompting their senior coach John Longmire to suggest the 2012 premiers just needed to work harder.

Bond said Fremantle expected nothing but the best from a team as talented and resilient as Sydney.

“They’re a strong club, they’ve got strong leaders, they’re very well run and they have a very strong culture,” he said.

“No matter what their win-loss is, they are a very difficult team to play and we respect them greatly.

“We know it’s going to be a very difficult game.”
