Fremantle dynamo Stephen Hill  was the unanimous choice as the Ross Glendinning medallist after Saturday's western derby.

However, he thought the experts might have got it wrong, saying other Dockers were better than him.

"There were a few players that really stood up. ‘Fyfey’ (Nat Fyfe) in the midfield was really strong and Daniel Pearce was running well, so they were the guys that played well,' he said.

"It was pretty fierce out there  … we knew they were going to keep coming."

Hill has hit a rich vein of form this year as opposition sides have often paid more attention to Fyfe.

He ended with 32 disposals, five tackles and three goals, including a clutch goal late in the game after the Eagles had snatched the lead.

"I am just looking to improve," he said.

"I just look to keep playing my role wherever it is; forward, back or midfield."

But while Hill stuck to the mantra of "playing his role", coach Ross Lyon put it in perspective.

"He can go wherever he wants, that's his licence," Lyon said.

"He gets tagged and he has got some tricks up his sleeve."

The medal is named after Ross Glendinning, a former chairman of selectors at Fremantle and the inaugural West Coast Eagles captain.

The selection panel and voting for the round 15 clash was as follows:

Dale Miller (The West Australian):
3 votes – Stephen Hil
2 votes – Nat Fyfe
1 vote – Paul Duffield
James Clement (ABC Radio):
3 votes – Stephen Hill
2 votes – Paul Duffield
1 vote – Mark Lecras
Dermott Brereton (Fox Sports):
3 votes – Stephen Hill
2 votes – Nat Fyfe
1 vote – Matt Priddis

Hill becomes the 28th player to be awarded the medal.
