Live the Dream, which is proudly supported by Decmil is a once in a lifetime opportunity for 16 young Australians to become immersed in the culture of the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and ‘live the life’ of an AFL player for five days.

Live the Dream offers participants a rare opportunity to develop skills and behaviours, which can deliver long-term benefits to the individual and their local community.

The program will include a tour of Fremantle headquarters and Patersons Stadium, an boot camp session at the Irwin Army Barracks located in Karrakatta as well as leadership and health and well being training sessions.

The Live the Dream program commences on Friday 11 July with Fremantle players Paul Duffield, Tommy Sheridan, Hayden Crozier, Stephen Hill, Chris Mayne, Nick Suban, Zac Clarke and Colin Sylvia as the participant’s mentors.

Meet 16-year-old Anthony Jenssen from Newman.

Anthony is an avid sportsman, having participated in football, soccer, cricket and racing speedway.

He said he was looking forward to Live the Dream.

“I am keen to learn and I am always looking out for extra skills to add to my toolbox.”

Anthony has had to overcome not having any fingers on his right hand, but he hasn’t let that stop him from pursuing his passions.

“I have not let this change my life,” he said.

“I still try to complete any tasks, I play sports and I try to be active all the time.”

Swan Districts regional development manager Dan Smith said Anthony’s leadership potential was “amazing”.

“Words cannot sum it up,” he added.

“Student councillor, junior sports coach, Newman Youth Council representative, winner of Young Australian of the Year in 2013.

“Anthony has maturity beyond his years.
