Aaron Sandilands credits his fitness as the key to a fourth selection in the Virgin Australia 2014 AFL All Australian team.

The champion ruckman was named in the prestigious 22-man team for three straight years from 2008 to 2010.

He was again recognised as the competition’s elite ruckman on Tuesday night after a dominating season.

“I’ve just been fit,” Sandilands said.

“Obviously, the past three years have been frustrating with injuries and not being able to get the body right.

“To get a full pre-season in and be fit going into the season made a huge difference.”

Sandilands said it was great honour to be named in the All Australian team and was extremely proud to have made it four times now.

“It’s very humbling,” he said.

“There are some great players that get picked every year and it was pleasing to be one of those.”

He was very happy to share the experience with first-time Freo All Australians Nat Fyfe and Hayden Ballantyne.

“It’s great to be able to experience a night like this with those guys,” he said.

“It’s great to see them up on stage with their (All Australian) jackets on and it’s something that, down the track, they’ll be very proud of.”
