Fremantle’s Matt de Boer has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the club.

The tough midfielder was out of contract at the end of the 2014 season.

Fremantle general manager of player management Brad Lloyd said the club was pleased to secure his services for at least another year.

“Matt is a great competitor and he has been a member of the leadership group since 2011,” he said.

“He is respected highly at the club and we look forward to his contribution in 2015.”

De Boer, who missed a block of football midseason because of a knee injury, played 14 games in 2014, taking his career tally to 115 games since he was selected in the 2008 Rookie Draft.
