Fremantle general manager of player management Brad Lloyd says the club is very happy with its position going into next month's draft period.

Freo did not complete a trade during the two-week Trade Period, which concluded on Thursday, and will go into the National Draft on 27 November armed with picks 13 and 34.

Lloyd revealed the club set about trying to improve its draft position during the Trade Period and that Melbourne defender James Frawley was spoken to as a free agent.

Frawley signed with reigning premiers Hawthorn, and a deal to move up the draft order did not eventuate.

“We found that to get up the draft order in the first round we were going to jeopardise our draft position and we were not prepared to do that.

“In the end, we decided to work towards the National Draft with the picks we have got.

“We’re very comfortable with our position and we see picks 13 and 34 as a great opportunity to get some young talent into the football club.”

Lloyd said the club would also continue to back its current playing group.

“Our third-year players had a significant impact for us this year, with players such as Lachie Neale, Cam Sutcliffe, Hayden Crozier and Lee Spurr playing plenty of good football,” he said.

“We’ll continue to show the faith in our list."
