Fremantle’s new recruits and experienced players hit Fremantle Oval on Monday morning for pre-season training.

The club’s four draftees – Lachlan Weller, Connor Blakely, Ed Langdon and Josh Deluca – looked a little bit overawed, as they joined the likes of Matthew Pavlich and Luke McPharlin on the track.

Freo sports science manager Jason Weber showed the recruits a number of drills before they joined the main group.

A kick-to-kick warm-up would have been an eye-opener for Deluca as he partnered up with Freo’s greatest ever player, Pavlich.

Weller, Blakely and Langdon found out how physical mature AFL midfielder bodies can be when they engaged in strength duels with David Mundy, Tendai Mzungu and Ryan Crowley.

Other stars to hit the pre-season on a strong note included Aaron Sandilands, Stephen Hill and Chris Mayne.

The club’s first to fourth-year players have been back training for the past fortnight.
