It will be Christmas pudding in moderation with a dash of at-home training for Fremantle’s players over the festive break.

The squad was put through a tough session on Fremantle Oval on Friday morning in temperatures hovering around 35 degrees.

There has been a heavy load of work before the Christmas and New Year holidays to build a solid foundation for 2015.

Midfielder David Mundy said all the players were looking forward to the break, but they would be ensuring there was no drop-off when they return in early January.

“Our sports scientists set us programs, they go through it and it’s really well planned out,” he said.

“It gives the players the best chance to come back in good nick.”

Mundy said the players would be tested via skinfolds and a 3km time trial when they return.

The classy midfielder will take the opportunity to return home to Victoria and visit his family for seven days.

“It’s a good chance to spend time with family and let the hair down a little bit,” he said.

“I’ve got a big family back home and a young family myself, so it’ll be good. It’s the first time we’ll take our young fella back home for Christmas.

“Hopefully Santa makes his way there and he’ll have a good time.”
