The tall timber of Sydney and Fremantle are ranked one and two respectively in hit-outs this season, setting up an enthralling ruck match up on Saturday night.

Zac Clarke and Aaron Sandilands will likely line up against Sydney’s ruckmen Mike Pyke and Kurt Tippett.

Both Tippett, a genuine forward, and Pyke, like to hurt the opposition on the scoreboard.

Clarke told 6PR’s Sports Today on Wednesday he was working on his ability to go forward and take marks.

Effort is non-negotiable: Clarke

“I probably see myself as a more of a natural ruckman, but being tall and athletic, I should have the ability to go forward and take a mark,” he said.

“If Aaron (Sandilands) and I can work together, that’s the ideal situation.”

Clarke said Sydney were strong across the ground.

“They are a quality side,” he said.

“They have a really experienced backline, experienced midfield and a very talented forward line.”

Fremantle play Sydney in the 20th annual Len Hall Tribute Match Saturday night at Domain Stadium. Bounce down at 6.45pm.
