Fremantle’s defenders held superstar Sydney forward Lance 'Buddy' Franklin to 2.2 in their 14-point win over the Swans in Saturday’s Len Hall Tribute Match.

Franklin threatened to break the game open on several occasions but was closely marked by Luke McPharlin.

McPharlin said last year’s Coleman Medallist was difficult to cover and it required a team effort.

“He’s got speed over the ground, he’s good in the air and at ground level,” he said.

“There are a lot of facets to his game, you have to be prepared for.

“I certainly had some help tonight from my team mates.”

Ross Lyon post-match Q & A

McPharlin said Sydney were a powerful team and it was a rewarding win.

“We had a really powerful start, similar to last week,” he said.

“It was a game of two halves and we let ourselves down a bit in the second half.

“When you know they’ve played two of the last grand finals, they are a really talented outfit.”
