Fremantle’s defensive stocks will be boosted with duo Luke McPharlin and Zac Dawson pushing for selection this week and Alex Silvagni hitting the track.

Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber said McPharlin, who has missed two games due to calf soreness, would train with the main group on Thursday.

“Luke will train fully with the AFL squad and hopefully be available for selection,” he said.

Dawson (groin) will also likely be available for selection and is tipped to make his return to football through Peel Thunder, but the WAFL has a bye this weekend.

There were good signs for Silvagni, who recently underwent hamstring surgery in Melbourne, after he completed several jogging exercises on Tuesday.

“Alex is doing really well…his recovery to this point has been spot on target and we hope to see more of him real soon,” Weber said.

Silvagni and Michael Apeness (knee) are expected to be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks.
