Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich will move into the top 10 in history for most games as captain of an AFL/VFL side on Saturday.

The game against North Melbourne will be Pavlich’s 175th as captain of Fremantle, drawing him level with Melbourne great David Neitz in 10th position.

The six-time Doig Medallist took over the reins from Peter Bell in 2007, at just 25, and is now unquestionably the greatest player in the club’s history.

More than 50 per cent of his 320 games have been as captain.

Carlton legend Stephen Kernahan (226) has captained the most AFL/VFL games with Dick Reynolds (224), Ted Whitten (212), Michael Voss (210) and John Nicholls (188) completing the top five.

Pavlich and St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt (187) are the only current players in the top 10.

He could also notch-up another milestone this round, with Pavlich requiring just three goals to reach a remarkable career tally of 650.
