Fremantle will need to maintain a high level of effort to beat an in-form Collingwood on Thursday night at Domain Stadium, according to defender Lee Spurr.

Fremantle had a surprise 27-point loss to Richmond in its last home game in Round 10.

Spurr said desire and effort were highlighted as the main areas to improve.

“We reviewed the Richmond game, and publicly Ross (Lyon) spoke about our desire levels not being high enough,” he said.

Spurr said taking the foot off the pedal against quality AFL sides would not end well.

“It’s not a massive drop off, only five per cent against quality sides you get found out really quickly,” he said.

“We’ve really been focusing on that consistency of being at your peak optimum every time.”
