Matthew Pavlich’s meticulous preparation for each and every game sets an example for the whole Fremantle squad, according to defender Lee Spurr.

Spurr is part of Fremantle’s leadership group and paid tribute to Pavlich ahead of the six-time All Australian’s testimonial dinner on Friday night at Crown Perth.

“Matthew’s a special player,” he said.

“Just his list of achievements (speaks for itself), his All Australians, best and fairests, the list could go on and on.”

Spurr said he felt privileged to play alongside Pavlich, who set an example on and off the field.

“When he plays he instills belief and confidence in you with the way he attacks the ball and the way he leads,” he said.

Bye came at right time: Spurr

“How many games he has played is a testament to him and how much of an elite preparer he is.

“He instills most in the group is how he ticks every box and dots every ‘i’ and crosses every ‘t’ in his preparation to get himself up.”
