Fremantle sit two games clear on top of the AFL ladder but that entitles the club to nothing, according to determined senior coach Ross Lyon.

Lyon told the Fremantle faithful at Matthew Pavlich’s testimonial dinner presented by Channel Seven at Crown Perth on Friday that the side had started the year well, but it still had not achieved anything.

“We acknowledge we’re in a really good position,” he said.

Lyon still searching for ideal attack

“The ladder position doesn’t entitle us to anything.

“The ultimate aim is a premiership but everyone in the competition wants one of those.

“They’re not easy to get a hold of.”

Pav testimonial not a farewell

Lyon said the team continued to grade itself against its own benchmarks and he expected it could improve.

“We’re always looking to improve and we can certainly improve, we’ve slipped off offensively,” he said.

Fremantle play Brisbane at Domain Stadium on Sunday 5 July. Bounce down is at 2.40pm.
