Fremantle is known for its miserly defence and the Brisbane Lions know that more than any other club.

The last time the two teams met at Domain Stadium, Fremantle’s stingy defence kept Brisbane to a VFL/AFL record for least inside-50s in a single game and the Lions’ lowest score since it merged with Fitzroy in 1996.

In Round 14 last year, Freo won 105 to 22 at Domain Stadium with Brisbane scoring just one point in the first half and kept to a record low of just 17 inside-50s.

Things did not get much better when the teams met at the Gabba in Round 22 with Fremantle running out 48-point winners.

Fremantle seem to have a habit of thwarting the Lions offence with Brisbane’s equal third lowest score also against Fremantle at Domain Stadium in Round 3, 2012.

In the same game, the Lions also recorded the equal third lowest number of inside-50s in VFL/AFL history with just 20.

Fremantle play Brisbane at Domain Stadium on Sunday 5 July. Bounce down is at 2.40pm.
