Fremantle midfielder David Mundy cannot wait until bounce down in Sunday’s highly anticipated blockbuster against Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium.

The Round 15 match against the back-to-back reigning premiers looms as one of Fremantle’s biggest tests of the season so far.

Mundy said if Fremantle wanted to be the best it had to beat the best teams.

“We understand it’s going to be a significant challenge but we’re up for it,” he said.

Hawks the next big challenge for Freo

“You get a lot of satisfaction from fighting against other guys striving for the same thing.”

Fremantle will need to make history if it is to beat Hawthorn in Launceston, a feat it has never achieved in seven attempts.

“No weather conditions or past results come into play,” Mundy said.

“It’s going to be about who wants the footy more and who wants to put their head over the ball for longer.”

Mundy said the Hawks were an extremely talented team.

Duffield wants to cement his spot

“Their entire 22 is really well drilled and skilful,” he said.

“I watched them on Friday night against Collingwood, they probably didn’t play their best but ground it out.

“They’re a well-drilled and really professional side with sustained success.

“That’s what we really strive for.”

Fremantle play Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium on Sunday 12 July. Bounce down is at 3.20pm local time.
