Fremantle midfielder David Mundy was the star of the show in a nail-biting four-point win against Richmond, describing it as a ‘backs to the wall’ performance.

Mundy slotted a late winner inside the final minute of play to keep Freo on top of the ladder for yet another week.

The Last Two Minutes: Freo v Richmond

“We say it every time we travel, we’re here to play a great team,” Mundy said.

“When you go away from home and you’re with the boys for three days and go out against a team like Richmond that are in red-hot form and have got passionate supporters, your backs are right against the wall.

“We’ve got to help each other out and work as a real cohesive unit and getting the win makes the flight home a lot easier as well.

“These are always the best wins, the ones we reflect back on…it really showed that we’ve got massive ticker as a group.”

Freo steals a clincher

Mundy originally hails from Victoria and said it was always great to play at the MCG and to catch up with family and friends after the game, albeit briefly before travelling back to the airport to return to Perth.

“It’s always great, I always have a couple of aunties that come down, obviously my mum, dad and my sister when they can too,” he said.

“It’s always nice to get home and see them for as long as I can, even though it’s only for 15 or 20 minutes post-game.”
