Young Fremantle draftee Josh Deluca is facing a number of weeks on the sidelines after a recurring stress reaction in his leg.

Deluca has been in solid form for Peel Thunder in the WAFL this season, after coming to the club at pick 68 in the National Draft last year.

Sports science manager Jason Weber said Deluca would likely be sidelined for the rest of the season.

“Josh unfortunately had a little bit of a bone issue he brought to the club,” he said.

“In the course of the season it has regressed a little bit and we’re going to have to give him a couple of weeks off.”

In more positive news, Alex Silvagni (hamstring) and Michael Johnson (hamstring) are expected to train with the main group on Friday if they pass tests this week.

Ballantyne's road to recovery

Weber said Hayden Ballantyne (pectoral tendon) was still sore after surgery last week but was back at the club on Tuesday.

“Ballas is back into some good solid work,” he said.

“We’ve got a firm plan in place to get him back by the end of the home and away season.”

Clancee Pearce trained on Tuesday and senior coach Ross Lyon said he was likely to be available to face Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, after injuring his shoulder against Richmond.

“He just had a slight sublux (partial shoulder dislocation),” Lyon told 6PR on Monday.

“I spoke to the doctor earlier today, I know it looked bad, but he’s basically okay.”
