Fremantle’s alignment with Peel Thunder in the WAFL is into its third year and is paying dividends for both clubs, according to Freo’s general manager of football Chris Bond.

While Fremantle sit on top of the AFL ladder, Peel sit third in the WAFL, only out of the top two by percentage.

The alignment began in 2013 and by 2014 all Fremantle players had Peel listed as their WAFL club.

Bond told 6PR on Wednesday that the alignment was fruitful for both clubs.

“I think both clubs would say it’s really beneficial,” he said.

“We work really closely with them in regards to the alignment and the partnership.

“To go down there, sit down and absorb how Peel are going about it is really impressive.”

Bond said the evident of its success was in the development of Fremantle’s young players such as draftees Lachie WellerConnor Blakely and Brady Grey.

“The benefit is our young players developing,” he said.

“Peel is becoming a really competitive club in the WAFL and that is really important to everyone.”
