In what has become a show of solidarity this round, Fremantle’s Michael Walters and Danyle Pearce both performed an Indigenous dance in support of Sydney Swan Adam Goodes.

Walters scored his first of four goals in the opening few minutes and made the gesture towards the crowd, which responded with applause.

When Pearce goaled later in the game, he performed a similar dance.

“I thought it was important for our boys, especially the Indigenous boys to get behind (Adam) Goodesy,” Walters said.

“Boys like Lewis Jetta and Jeff Garlett have got behind him and showed support (this round).”

Walters said it was an important gesture for Goodes, who has been subjected to ongoing jeering this season.

“Something so small like that, could make him upbeat,” he said.

A message from Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich urging fans to remain respectful and good sports was aired at three-quarter time.
