Fremantle will blood its third debutant of the season with midfielder Ed Langdon named to play Melbourne on Sunday.

The pacey draftee is one of three inclusions to the team for the round 22 clash at Domain Stadium.

In other good news, captain Matthew Pavlich has overcome Achilles soreness to be named along with Clancee Pearce.

Nat Fyfe will miss due to a leg injury while Alex Pearce and Hayden Crozier have been omitted.

Langdon has impressed with his form for Peel Thunder in the WAFL, after arriving at Fremantle at pick 54 in the National Draft in 2014.

Langdon returns in Peel's record win

“I’m pretty overwhelmed and excited,” Langdon said.

“Still hasn’t really sunk in, it’s still a bit surreal.”

Senior coach Ross Lyon broke the news to the 19-year-old at training on Friday morning.

“At the end of training, Ross came up to me after training and told me the good news,” he said.

“I managed to give my brother (Tom), who plays for Collingwood, a quick call when I got off the track, and my parents.

“He said to enjoy it as much as I can because you only debut once.”

Langdon said he simply wanted to play his role.

“Playing my role (is the focus), I’m not out there to set the world on fire, just do what the team asks me to do and get the win,” he said.
