Midfielder Michael Barlow says Fremantle’s philosophy remains the same as it has all year, heading into week one of the finals, stay in the moment.

Fremantle finished its home and away season with a 69-point loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval but are now firmly focused on next week.

The club finished top of the ladder, securing its first minor premiership in its 21-year history.

Talking Points from Port

Barlow said while it may be a cliché, Freo would only remained focused on the present and what it could influence.

“Externally there is a lot of speculation and build-up to finals,” he said.

“As much as we say it, people might not believe it, we stay in the moment.

“We concentrate on our next training session, next game or next recovery session.”

Port powers over Freo

Fremantle’s first finals fixture is yet to be confirmed but Barlow said, no matter who the opponent, the side would not look ahead of week one.

“We recover from this game, train this week and take on the business end of the year,” he said

“We won’t get drawn into speculating past the first week of the finals.”
