Fremantle general manager of player management Brad Lloyd has confirmed the club’s interest in recruiting Cam McCarthy and Harley Bennell.

Lloyd is in Melbourne for the NAB AFL Trade Period, which started on Monday, and runs until Thursday 22 October.

He said Fremantle were keen to secure the services of the GWS forward, McCarthy, who is still under contract with the Giants.

“Cam is someone we’ve got a strong interest in,” Lloyd said.

“He’s a West Australian boy and he’s indicated he’d like to return home.

“To get him here, we have to sort out a trade with GWS.”

The South Fremantle product has played 36 AFL games for 35 goals after he was taken at pick 14 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.

Lloyd also confirmed the club was in negotiations to sign Gold Coast Sun, Bennell.

“Harley he is a player of significant interest to us,” he said.

“We discussed him today as part of our talks.

“We’ll continue to work through that.”

Bennell has played 92 AFL games after he was taken at pick 2 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft.
