The 194cm draftee Sam Collins is happy to play at either end of the ground.

The key-position player was taken at pick 55 in Tuesday’s NAB AFL Draft from Box Hill in the VFL.

While he has recently played primarily as a defender, the 21-year-old played much of his career in the forward line.

The mature-aged recruit is a towering figure and will help boost Fremantle’s young tall stocks.

“I’ve played forward,” Collins said.

Pick 55: Sam Collins

“I went forward in the (VFL) Grand Final.

“I played eight games forward and pinch hit in the ruck last year.

“I do enjoy it up there.”

Collins has developed a reputation as a thumping spoiler in VFL ranks but is also a solid contested mark.

“I like to think I’m a pretty good contested mark but I liked to play my role at Box Hill, a lot of that was about beating my opponents with spoils,” he said.

“I love to punch the ball as hard as I can when the opportunity is there.”
