Fremantle’s preparation for the Western Bulldogs ruck matchup continues to beg questions, with Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge ruling Will Minson out of Sunday’s game at Etihad Stadium.

With Minson unavailable due to a hamstring complaint and fellow ruckman Tom Campbell under an injury cloud with an ankle injury, the Bulldogs ruck situation remains questionable in the lead up to the game.

However, Beveridge remained confident in his ruck depth even with the potential absence of both Minson and Campbell.

“If Tommy doesn’t come up ‘Roughy’ (Roughhead) will play, and we’ve got Jack Redpath who can pinch hit, and we know Tommy Boyd is a good ruckman," Beveridge told reporters on Tuesday.

Griffin prepares for heavy duty

Freo ruckman Jonathon Griffin said last week that while the Bulldogs ruck situation remains unclear, it wouldn’t alter his preparation.

“They’ve tried a number of guys in the role so I’ll be playing close attention to them,” Griffin said.

Griffin also fully expects to see Tom Boyd in the ruck during Sunday’s game, and is aware of the challenge the former number one overall pick presents.

“He’s a very mobile guy and very athletic so that’ll be a challenge in itself.”
