The Fremantle Dockers came with the necessary endeavour against Essendon on Saturday night, according to Freo captain David Mundy.
 
While Mundy said Freo wouldn’t get carried away with the 79-point win, he was pleased that Freo finally played the type of football they’d been aspiring to since the start of the season.
 
“We won’t get too carried away with it,” Mundy said.
 
“There are still bits to work on but that’s the type of footy we will look to play the rest of the year.

Mundy displayed his leadership and led by example with 33 disposals, seven inside 50s and a disposal efficiency of 87.9 per cent in the win.
 
The win was Mundy’s first as Freo captain and while the experience took longer to eventuate than he would’ve liked, he said he couldn’t have been happier with how the game was won.
 
“I’d like to have had it (winning feeling) about 10 weeks ago,” he laughed.

“The boys really put it all on the line tonight and it was a fantastic team effort.”
 
Mundy said Freo had displayed periods of quality football throughout the year but said consistency was the key in Saturday night’s win.
 
“We’ve seen elements throughout the games, especially in the past four or five weeks,” he said.
 
“Tonight we were more consistent and didn’t turn it over as much and that was a real key to us playing pretty well.”
