Several Fremantle-listed players performed strongly for Peel on Saturday, while a seasoned midfielder could return from injury.

Here’s who could be in the mix to tackle Geelong on Friday night at Domain Stadium.

Michael Barlow
The 28-year-old was close to making a remarkable return against the Demons, but needed another week to recover from finger surgery. Barring any major setbacks, Barlow should be available for selection and, given his recent AFL form, could come straight back in to the senior side.

WAFL Watch: Rd 16 Coach's comments

Josh Deluca
Having missed much of last year through injury, Deluca has impressed with his endeavour and hardness across half-forward. The 20-year-old is yet to debut but has played every game for Peel in 2016, and was upgraded from the Rookie List last week. He was listed as an emergency against the Demons and played well again for the Thunder, amassing 26 possessions and six tackles. If Lyon wishes to inject any more youth into the side, Deluca appears to be next in line.

Zac Clarke
The big man was dominant in his return to the WAFL, amassing 59 hit-outs – more than double West Perth’s total of 28 – and 16 possessions. Though Jon Griffin battled manfully against Max Gawn, he may need support to counter the athletic attributes of Geelong duo Zac Smith and Mark Blicavs. Clarke’s leap and endurance could be the perfect tonic, but Lyon may want to see him build some consistency for Peel.

Match day information

Matt de Boer
The hard nut has been consistent for Peel, averaging more than 29 possessions, seven tackles and four marks per match. Given the size of Geelong’s on-ball brigade – Blicavs (198cm, 97kg), Paddy Dangerfield (189cm, 92kg), Mitch Duncan (188cm, 86kg) and Joel Selwood (182cm, 85kg) – Lyon could call on de Boer to provide a hard edge at stoppages.

Ethan Hughes
Following a string of calf setbacks, Hughes returned for Peel on Saturday and gathered 24 possessions and four tackles in severe conditions. The defender was solid in three senior appearances between rounds seven and nine and will be hoping for more opportunities before season’s end. However, like Clarke, the coaching staff may opt for him to build consistency in the WAFL before throwing him in the deep end.
