Fremantle star Nat Fyfe is showing positive signs following season-ending leg surgery, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

“Nathan’s one of the surgical procedures for this year. He’s back up and running and he’s lifting in the gym,” Weber said.

Weber was also optimistic about the recovery of Michael Apeness, who has been listed as a test for the collarbone injury he sustained against the Bombers in Round 11.

In the mix: Young midfielder stakes his claim

“Michael’s done really well since incurring that injury a couple of weeks ago playing AFL.”

“He trained really strongly today – full contact – so we expect him to move into training on Thursday, and hopefully he’ll be available for Ross and the match committee.”

Michael Barlow (AC joint) and Hayden Ballantyne (cheekbone) are both “resting comfortably” following surgery.

Irish recruit Sean Hurley has had a minor setback with a hip injury, but is running at training.
