Fremantle midfielder Matt de Boer is the ‘logical choice’ to line-up against the Swans this Sunday, according to senior coach Ross Lyon.

“Matty de Boer will certainly play,” Lyon said on Friday.

“We need his strength and his size.

“His form has been really quite strong.

“I’ve let go of the sentiment and I’ve gone for practicality.”

TABtouch squad: Six in for Fremantle

The 26-year old has played two games this season, where he’s averaged 12 disposals and six tackles.

De Boer comes off good form in the WAFL, where he’s averaged 25.67 disposals and 8.67 tackles in three games since returning from a knee injury.

He replaces Nick Suban, who will line up for Peel Thunder in their clash with Claremont on Saturday.

“He (Suban) couldn’t try any harder, but for the last two weeks he hasn’t touched the ball much,” Lyon said.

“It’s a strong opportunity for him to go back and get some possessions.”

Talking Points v Swans

Suban is one of three players omitted from the team, with ruckman Jon Griffin and the round 11 NAB Rising Star nominee Connor Blakely both going back to the WAFL this week.

“It’s his (Blakely) disposal,” Lyon said.

“He’s turning the ball over more than we’d like.

“He’s disappointed but he’ll bounce back.

“Jon (Griffin) hasn’t been able to deliver what he’s needed to, so we’ll look at a different mix.”

Jack Hannath is likely to join Zac Clarke in the ruck for this week’s game with Sydney.

The TABtouch 22 will be announced at 3pm WST on Friday 29 July on fremantlefc.com.au
