Fremantle’s Matthew Pavlich reflected on some of the memorable moments of his career at his last pre-game media conference on Wednesday.

“The victory against Geelong in the 2013 qualifying final down in Geelong, was probably up there,” Pavlich said.

The clash with Geelong at Simonds Stadium was a historic moment for Fremantle, securing the first home preliminary final for the club since its inception.

Pavlich has faith in Freo's future

“It was a pretty raw deal to be honest, but the whole group embraced it head on,” Pavlich said in reference to the decision to not play the game at either the MCG or Etihad Stadium.

“We didn’t start the game well.

“We just found a way, we fixed up each others mistakes and we played for each other and we got the victory.”

Pavlich finished the day with 14 disposals and two goals.

“That was followed closely by the preliminary victory against Sydney,” Pavlich said.

Your guide to Pav's farewell

The victory over Sydney in the 2013 preliminary final saw Fremantle reach their first Grand Final, and Pavlich continued his form from the qualifying final, kicking two goals to go with his 15 disposals, five marks and three tackles.

“That’s when we were at our best. We took on situations,” Pavlich said.

“It didn’t matter where we were playing or who we were playing, we were able to go out and get the job done.”

Fremantle take on Western Bulldogs at 2:40pm AWST at Domain Stadium in Pavlich’s final game.
