Darcy Tucker says the Fremantle players involved in the WAFL finals are motivated by the opportunity to create history for Peel Thunder.

Peel are preparing to play in their second consecutive finals series and face East Perth in an Elimination Final at Rushton Park on Sunday.

Tucker said the players were excited by the prospect of winning Peel’s maiden finals match.

“We’ve got a really good opportunity to create some history for Peel Thunder and the Fremantle Football Club,” he said.

The inclusion of up to 16 Freo players, including the in-form Shane Yarran and experienced Alex Silvagni, gives the Thunder greater depth than they had in the 2015 finals series.

Tucker hopes the AFL experience of returning Fremantle players will give them an edge over their opponents.

“Hopefully, a lot of the boys who come back into the team can bring some experience and give the team a bit of a boost, “ he said.

“But it is finals football, so it will still be a very tough level of football and the competition will be on.”

Tucker, who made 12 appearances for Fremantle in 2016, said he learnt a lot from his first AFL season and wants to bring that experience to the Thunder.

“I’ve learnt heaps along the way and think I have improved in ground ball and contested tackle, but there is still plenty to work on,” he said.

“I’ve really enjoyed my first year. I’ve loved it.”
