The new Perth Stadium will be a world-class facility for fans and players alike, so we’re giving our fans a look at what’s in store for season 2018 when AFL moves to its new home in Western Australia.

So let’s kick our second instalment off by looking at the new and improved facilities awaiting Freo’s players at Perth Stadium. Fremantle will have dedicated changing rooms at the ground, meaning opposition teams will not use them when visiting.

The Stadium will boast a warm-up area for the home team approximately six times larger than the current area at Domain Stadium. With the ceiling about six metres high, it allows the players to undertake true kicking drills without hitting the roof. To put it in perspective, the floor area is roughly that of two-to-three cricket warm up nets.

One of the exciting aspects of this new facility is the opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with the players while they warm up, through the new Field Club. Fans will be able to stand on the boundary and watch the game, as well as enjoy food and beverages, plus watch the players in the rooms.

The bar opens onto the side of the field, and will immerse the fans in the atmosphere of the game, providing an experience most only dream about.

This is the current view from inside the Field Club out onto the ground.

In the United States, the Dallas Cowboys NFL franchise offers something similar for their fans.

The fans can choose to stand field side or sit in their premium dedicated seat on level one.

One of the most exciting features of the Field Club is the exclusive access to the post-match press conference. Glass walls will be pulled around the coaches’ media area to, but the audio will be played in the room, so you can watch the coaches speaking to the press live from the comfort of the bar. This is a true inner sanctum offering.

Perth Stadium offers unprecedented access to the coaches both through the Field Club and Coaches’ Club, which provides an opportunity to sit directly behind the coaching box.

The coaches’ boxes themselves are also a brand new feature for football in WA. Both Fremantle and West Coast will have dedicated coaches’ boxes that can be fitted out exactly as each club require. The visiting clubs will have access to a third coaches’ box, meaning Ross Lyon and his team can leave the box set up exactly how they want it after the game.

These state-of-the-art facilities offer a range of benefits to both the fans and the football clubs, ensuring the most immersive experience available in professional sport in Australia. We can’t wait to see you at the footy at the new Perth Stadium.
