Lachie Neale says some new faces and the return of Nat Fyfe will be a big boost for Fremantle’s midfield in 2017, providing the group can stay healthy on the track.

Neale featured in every game as injuries hampered Fremantle’s midfield in 2016, racking up 737 disposals in a standout season.

Harley Bennell, who missed the entire of the 2016 season after being traded to Fremantle from the Gold Coast, could also provide a boost in the centre, alongside the addition of outside midfielder Bradley Hill.

“It’s really exciting, obviously Nathan’s a great player and Harley as well,” Neale said.

“Then we’ve got Bradley Hill coming in as well, so there’s a really good mix of inside and outside.

“Plus, we’ve got young guys like Darcy Tucker, who has been awesome at training, and Connor Blakely, who is improving every session. So there are a lot of guys who will be able to float through there.

“Hopefully, we can stay fit and available for the majority of the season.”

Neale spoke highly of Bradley Hill, who has impressed at the club since his arrival in November.

“His speed is second to none and his fitness base is incredible as well,” Neale said.

“He’s taken out our 3km time trials both times and has shown that he’s got a really strong fitness base, and his skills are pretty on point as well.”

At 23, Neale is the same age as the younger of the Hill brothers, and he expects the three-time Hawthorn premiership player to perform well as he joins his Stephen in his home state.

“He’s going to bring a lot and it’ll be pretty good for the fans to see both the Hill boys out there together,” Neale said.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with him.

“He seems as passionate as ever, and I think playing with your brother is pretty special back in his home state around his family and friends.”

“I’ve seen no sign that he’s fulfilled and he brings that wealth of knowledge from one of the greatest teams in history to win three in a row. He’s a pretty good piece to put into the puzzle.”
