Fremantle rounds out their JLT Community Series with a clash against Carlton on Friday night at Domain Stadium.

Domain also hosted the last meeting between the two sides in round five of the 2016 season, with Carlton prevailing by four points in a scrappy contest.

While Fremantle are buoyed by a two-point win against Collingwood last Saturday, Carlton are licking their wounds after a 92-point thrashing against St Kilda.

The Blues have responded by naming a near full strength squad for the trip west, with captain Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Kade Simpson, Sam Docherty and Matthew Kreuzer joined by first year players Harrison Macreadie and Cameron Polson as Carlton’s inclusions.

TALKING POINTS

1. A first look at new draftees?
The clash could be Freo fans’ first glimpse of up to two new draftees. Freo will finalise their final team of 24 on game day, and if named, Griffin Logue and Brennan Cox will make their first senior appearances for Fremantle.

2. Leakey defences
Both Fremantle and Carlton come into this game needing to reduce the damage of an opponent’s inside 50. Fremantle has conceded the most goals per inside 50 in the JLT Series, with 37.7 per cent resulting in a major score. Carlton is second this pre-season, with 33.0 per cent of inside 50s resulting in goals.

3. Fyfe v Cripps
It’s a chance to see two of WA’s most talented football players in action as Nat Fyfe and Carlton’s Patrick Cripps shape up in their respective midfields. Fyfe has enjoyed two solid outings in his return from injury while Cripps has seen just one half of football so far this pre-season -picking up seven disposals last week against the Saints.

4. Alex is back
The Silvagni name is synonymous with Carlton, but former Docker Alex Silvagni will be heading west to play on familiar territory. The 29-year-old played 53 games over seven seasons for Freo, but featured in just five games in 2016 in a season hampered by injury.
