Fremantle have earned their historic first win in the NAB AFL Women’s competition with an impressive 16-point win at Domain Stadium.

Led by an impressive 24-disposal effort, eight tackle and two goal effort by captain Kara Donnellan, Fremantle put up an outstanding four-quarter effort at the home of football in WA.

Fremantle started strongly with three goals in the opening term, while restricting Carlton’s forward supply. The Blues broke Freo’s bind in the second term thanks largely to marquee selections Darcy Vescio and Brianna Davey, both of whom were influential in reducing the deficit to just four points at the long break.

But Fremantle, guilty of second-half fadeouts throughout the season, rallied strongly after half-time, registering 13 scoring shots to Carlton’s two.
