While there was no main training session on Monday, preparations for round two against Port Adelaide were still underway at Victor George Kailis Oval.

One of the new innovations at Fremantle’s elite training and administration facility at Cockburn Central is the ability easily replicate the dimensions of any AFL ground in Australia.

And from 7am on Monday morning, Programmed workers were moving the goal posts and painting the ground markings to replicate the dimensions of Adelaide Oval.

As long and narrow grounds, Domain Stadium and Adelaide Oval have similar dimensions - but that didn’t prevent some noticeable changes when the workers were done.

At 169m long, Adelaide Oval is six metres shorter than Domain Stadium.

On the northern end of the ground, the goal posts were shifted six metres closer to the southern end.

On the wings, the difference was minimal, with Adelaide Oval just two metres wider than Domain.

The difference will be more pronounced in preparation for Fremantle’s round four clash with Melbourne at the MGC.

Compared to Domain, the MCG is 16 metres shorter and 19 metres wider.

The most drastic change will come ahead of round 21, when Fremantle face Sydney on the almost circular SGC.

At 149m long, the SCG is 27 metres shorter and just one metre wider than Domain.
