Lachie Neale is looking forward to recharging and refreshing during Freo’s bye weekend after the team’s poor performance against Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday.

The midfielder lead Freo’s possession count for the game, gathering 25 touches and a goal.

“When we come back from the bye we need to be really focused and put in a better effort than we have the last few weeks because it simply hasn’t been good enough,” Neale said.

“We’ve all had a part to play and we need to improve. We can go away, review it, learn from it and hopefully put it into action in a couple of weeks time.”

The Lions led from the start in the loss with Brisbane’s midfield dominating the clearances.

“That first quarter obviously didn’t help and we got outplayed for the majority of the game,” Neale said.

“It started with us in the midfield, we got beaten quite convincingly in clearances and they were able to gut us through the middle way too easy.

“Our defence was off, our midfield was off early and that set the game up for them and they carried on with it.”
