Twelfth placed Fremantle face eighth placed St Kilda on Sunday at Domain Stadium.

Here are the key stats and stories heading into the game.

It’s been a while…
You would need to go back to round seven of the 2013 season for the last time the two sides met at Domain Stadium, where Freo prevailed by 30 points - led by Nat Fyfe with 35 touches and five goals from Hayden Ballantyne.
The past four meetings have been at Etihad Stadium, with St Kilda winning three of these games.
In the most recent clash, Fremantle led by 13 points at three-quarter time, only for St Kilda to pile on eight unanswered goals in the final term to emerge 34-point winners.

Saints ascending
St Kilda were reeling around the bye period, losing three straight games to Sydney, the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide at an average of 49 points.
The Saints have since turned their misfortune around, winning their past two against North Melbourne and Gold Coast.
Freo suffered a similar stretch against Adelaide, Collingwood and Brisbane from rounds 10-12, losing on average by 59 points. Despite exhibiting a return to form away to Geelong, Freo were unable to emerge with the four points in a heartbreaking two-point loss.

Score sources
Fremantle are more likely to score from the stoppage (35.6 points per game, 4th in AFL) than St Kilda (27.9 points per game, 14th in AFL).
St Kilda are more likely to score from turnovers (56.8 points per game, 7th in AFL) than Fremantle (39 points per game, 18th in AFL).

Accuracy
At 50.6 per cent, St Kilda’s scoring accuracy is the lowest in the AFL, with the Saints averaging just over 12 goals per game and just under 12 behinds per game.
Fremantle is mid-table in the AFL’s scoring accuracy, sitting 10th at 57.4 per cent.

Forward entries
Against Geelong, Freo struggled to find a target inside 50 with 10 per cent of forward entries being marked – the lowest for the round.
On average, 16.4 of Fremantle’s forward entries have been marked in 2017, the third lowest in the AFL, while St Kilda have been running at 22 per cent, the second highest in the AFL.

Midfield advantage
Based on the numbers, Fremantle can hope to have the ascendency in the midfield. Freo average 37.2 clearances per game (8th in AFL) compared to St Kilda’s 34.9 (16th in the AFL).
Lachie Neale leads Freo in the stat, averaging 6.5 clearances and 27.6 disposals per game. Seb Ross is leading the way for the Saints with 5.5 clearances per game while averaging 30.1 disposals.

Sandi boost?
Freo’s midfield advantage starts in the ruck, with Fremantle second in the AFL for hitouts to advantage at 13.5 per game, compared to St Kilda’s 10 per game (15th in the AFL).
Despite the strong performance of Sean Darcy on debut in round 14, the potential return of Aaron Sandilands from injury will still be a boost to Freo’s engine room.
With Sandilands in the lineup, Freo has averaged 16.2 hitouts to advantage per game compared to 7.25 hitouts to advantage per game without Sandilands.

Sibling rivalry
Freo and the Saints will roll out a Weller on each side, with Freo’s Lachie four years younger to St Kilda’s Mav.
Lachie has spent his time across half back and the wing in 2017, averaging 21.1 disposals per game and kicking five goals.
Mav has averaged 17.3 disposals per game across the midfield and up front, kicking nine goals.
