Michael Walters has received his fare share of plaudits from his performance against St Kilda on Sunday at Domain Stadium.

Members of the media called it one of the best of the best individual efforts of the season, AFL Media put Walters in their team of the week and senior coaches Ross Lyon and Alan Richardson gave him a perfect 10 in the AFLCA voting.

But no praise has been as glowing as that of Mark Robinson on Monday night’s episode of AFL 360 on Fox Footy.

Robinson named Walters his ‘Monday Champion’ for his six-goal, 32-disposal performance.

“He played a game as good, if not better than I’ve ever seen (Patrick) Dangerfield and Dustin Martin play,” Robinson said.

“He was dynamic…he missed a couple and he could have kicked eight.

“He could have 32 (disposals) and eight goals. It was an amazing performance.”

Robinson said he joins the likes of Fox Footy commentator Gerard Healey in putting Walters in the running for an All Australian berth.

“Gerard’s been pushing him for All Australian for a couple weeks now,” Walters said.

“And seriously, I really think if the season stopped right now, Michael Walters is a starting 18 player in the All Australian.

“That was football at its best, for a mid sized player…it was a spectacular performance. It was unbelievable.”
